If somebody needs a tooth extracted and let’s say that they have really great bone support but no tooth left, there’s a very simple way to get that tooth out most of the time. It’s a surgical procedure. What we do is we use some surgical burrs that are very, very small.
It allows us to actually go down on the root of the tooth and make the tooth smaller and allow us to remove that tooth gently without damage to the bone. Makes it more comfortable. It’s still a scary experience if you’re not used to having something like that done, but it’s really no different than having a filling done.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to silence dentistry. It makes noise because it’s happening inside your head. The hand piece, though, against the tooth versus the bone, I think it sounds very similar.

I cannot put into words how incredibly grateful I am to have found Dr. Dorroh, and his incredible staff! I presented to this office late on a Monday with a major dilemma. I was experiencing severe tooth pain and was due to travel for my cousins wedding in less than 72 hours. The level of care that I received here was stark in comparison to my previous experience elsewhere. With almost no notice, Dr. Dorroh carved out the time to see me late in the evening. During our visit, he identified a molar that needed an extraction, and said he could fit me in the following day. It is difficult to put a price on this service, since each patient is different with unique needs. Some factors that come into play include the location of the tooth, its condition, and how many teeth need to be removed. We’ll be happy to examine your mouth when you come in for your initial consultation and X-rays. Then we can give you a good idea of the cost for your procedure.
In most cases, you can expect your extraction site to heal fully within approximately seven to 10 days. Your healing will depend partly on how well you follow the aftercare instructions we’ll give you. If you’re careful about what you eat and drink and avoid vigorous exercise for a few days, your healing will be quicker and more comfortable.
You can feel confident our experienced dental team will do all we can to make sure your tooth removal is as comfortable as possible. We’ll take a set of X-rays to help us plan your procedure, then we’ll use an anesthetic to ensure the area we’re working on is fully numb. We also have laughing gas and oral sedation available to eliminate your dental anxiety and help you relax.
